SECS Meeting Wednesday at 6:30

SECS Meeting This Wednesday 6:30-7:30!

At the Channing Murray Foundation, 1209 W Oregon Street. Come learn about what SECS does and how you can get involved!

Here’s what we’re up to this week:

  • Action: Outreach for the sustainable engineering campaign and planning expressive policy campaign.

  • CFE: Finalizing club outreach list and drafting emails.

  • Education: Outreach for teach-ins and other events.

  • Garden: Planting new starts.

  • Green Observer : Working on submissions, drafts due October 1st!

  • Media: Making buttons with reused materials.

  • Policy: Learning about the Illinois Environmental Council’s legislative agenda and how we’re going to lobby for their three flagship bills.

Community Building: Board Games

Before our meetings, from 6:00-6:30, come to the Channing Murray for some community building. Meet some new people in SECS or get to know them better. We’ll be playing board games this week, bring your favorite!

This Wednesday:

Green Quad Day is a mini quad day focused on environmental and sustainable RSOs and organizations hosted by the Student Sustainability Leadership Council to bring people together and highlight sustainability on campus.

SECS will be tabling and and holding a bake sale at Green Quad Day this Wednesday. Come by and get a treat! If you want to make some goodies sign up below.

Throughout TORIIS, you can explore in depth the University of Illinois Systems’ investments, understand the scope and impact of its investments in the fossil fuel industry, and take action by signing the open letter requesting fossil fuel divestment from the University of Illinois.
