Community Hour + Election Info
Before SECS meetings, from 6-6:30 in the Channing Murray Foundation, come hang out with us! We’re playing games, bring your favorite!
If you are interested in joining the SECS board, or just want to know more about the board, Averhy will be holding an info session during community hour. Ask about the responsibilities of the positions, the election process, or any other questions you have. Elections will be held March 4th, more information about that coming soon.
SECS Elections
Elections for SECS have begun!! You are able to run for 1 or 2 positions, these include: President , Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary, DEI Coordinator, Action Coordinator, Policy Coordinator, Education Coordinator, Media Coordinator, Land Stewardship Coordinator, Green Observer Editor in Chief, and Community Chair.
In order to run, you must submit a proposal in this form. Proposals are due March 2nd, speeches and elections will be held March 4th, during our normal meeting time. Results will be out the following day.
If you have questions about the election process or the responsibilities of the officers, come to community hour before SECS this week! If you have questions for a specific board member, our positions and emails are listed at the bottom of this newsletter!
Spring Barn Dance
Join SECS, GLC, Illini Democrats, and other progressive and sustainable RSOs for our Spring 2025 Progressive Barn Dance on Tuesday, March 24, 2025! Fill out this RSVP form to buy your ticket. The ticket price is $20 (non-negotiable), and includes barn admission, transportation, and drinks. This is payable on Venmo to @Kacper-Pancerz.
We have a few rules that we must follow on the bus to ensure this event goes smoothly. First, there are absolutely no drinks allowed on the bus. Furthermore, if you throw up on the bus, you will be responsible for paying a $300 fee. You are required to arrive and leave the barn on the bus you purchase a ticket for, if you attempt to take a different bus home, you risk having no way back to campus. Additionally, no Ubers or Lyfts are allowed to or from the barn, so ensure you are on time to your bus pick-up times. Please be respectful and enjoy your night responsibly!
If you have any questions or are doing a bulk purchase for a RSO, please reach out to [email protected].
Baily Scholarship
Our friends at the Y offer a scholarship for leaders at U of I. Applications close February 28th, this Friday! You can learn more here.
