First SECS Meeting This Wednesday at 6:30!
At the Channing Murray Foundation, 1209 W Oregon Street, as usual. Come learn about what SECS does, and how you can get involved.
Here’s what the working groups are up to this week:
Action will be working on promoting the upcoming FFI climate march this Friday, putting up posters and chalking.
CFE will be planning the speech and tabling.
Education will be brainstorming new projects for the year.
Garden will be photographing and brainstorming off season projects.
Green Observer will be working on collages for the magazine.
Media will be collaborating with action to chalk the quad.
Policy will be collaborating with action to promote the march.
Community Building
No community building this week, but it will be returning next week, stay tuned!
Some Upcoming Events

Green Quad Day is a mini quad day focused on environmental and sustainable RSOs and organizations hosted by the Student Sustainability Leadership Council to bring people together and highlight sustainability on campus. Join us as we will watch the Lorax on the Quad to celebrate nature! There will be free giveaways while supplies last including succulents, glass water bottles, stress balls, reusable cutlery, and sunflower kits.

Green Observer
If you haven’t gotten the spring edition of the green observer pick it up Wednesday at the meeting, or get in touch with Sophia! The next theme, Remnants, has been announced. Read Currents at your leisure or submit to Remnants here. Drafts are due October 1st.

TORIIS.earth is an organization that makes transparent the University of Illinois Systems investments and visualizes this data through an environmental lens. Throughout TORIIS, you can explore in depth the University of Illinois Systems’ investments, understand the scope and impact of its investments in the fossil fuel industry, and take action by signing the open letter requesting fossil fuel divestment from the University of Illinois.
