Whether you’ve been on this mailing list for a while or just signed up on Quad Day, welcome to Students for Environmental Concerns (SECS)! We are the oldest environmental organization on campus, dating back to before the first Earth Day. We are committed to fighting for the university to divest from fossil fuels (more info on that here) and promoting sustainability on campus and in the Champaign-Urbana area.

Our first meeting of the school year is Wednesday, August 28th at 6:30 p.m. at the Channing Murray Foundation (1209 W. Oregon Street). Come by to meet fellow environmentalists and learn what SECS is all about! Join our Discord here to stay up to date on SECS business throughout the year. 4th Annual Reimagine our Future Sustainability Competition!

This undergraduate sustainability competition asks students to develop an innovate plan or solution that promotes one or more of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) while taking account of other relevant SDGs. In doing so, students will address a particular sustainability problem or challenge which could be at a local, regional, national, or international level anywhere in the world.
